Google Maps Gets an AI Upgrade: New Features Announced

Visual Scenarios with Generative AI

One of the new features, “Maps Imagery Grounding,” allows users to create realistic scenes using text prompts. This system can simulate how a film set or construction project would appear on Street View.

Users can generate scenes within seconds through commands entered on the Gemini Enterprise platform. Additionally, these visuals can be turned into animations.

Faster Analysis of Satellite Data

The “Aerial and Satellite Insights” feature offered on Google Maps and Google Earth accelerates the analysis of satellite imagery. This system processes large datasets quickly using the Google Cloud BigQuery infrastructure.

According to the company, analyses that used to take weeks can now be completed in minutes.

New Earth AI Models

Google has also introduced two new artificial intelligence models for geospatial analysis. These systems can automatically detect specific objects such as bridges, roads, and power lines from images.

Previously, companies had to develop their own AI systems for such analyses. The new models significantly shorten this process.

Expanding Enterprise Use Cases

The developed systems can be used in areas such as urban planning, environmental monitoring, and disaster management. Google’s Earth AI platform is already actively used across various industries.
