Bribery Investigation in Ataşehir Municipality: 19 Suspects Arrested
In a bribery investigation at Ataşehir Municipality, 19 people including Mayor Onursal Adıgüzel were arrested.
As part of the bribery investigation into Ataşehir Municipality, 19 of the 20 suspects taken into custody have been arrested. In the investigation conducted by the Istanbul Anatolian Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office, action was taken against suspects including Mayor Onursal Adıgüzel.
The investigation was launched following reports alleging bribery in municipal tender, zoning, and occupancy permit processes. The suspects face charges of “bribery,” “establishing, leading, and being a member of a criminal organization,” and “bid rigging.” The 20 detained individuals were referred to the courthouse after procedures at the police station.
Scope and Process of the Investigation
Within the framework of the bribery investigation into Ataşehir Municipality conducted by the Istanbul Anatolian Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office, the suspects’ interrogations by the prosecutor have been completed. They were then referred to the criminal court of peace with a request for arrest.
The court ruled for the arrest of 19 individuals, including Mayor Onursal Adıgüzel. One suspect was released under judicial control conditions.
