Release of İmamoğlu’s Drivers in İBB Investigation
In the İBB investigation, two official drivers of Ekrem İmamoğlu were released. Tensions arose during the hearing, and release decisions were issued for several defendants.
Within the scope of the İBB investigation, Ekrem İmamoğlu’s official drivers, Osman Zekai Kırat and Recep Cebeci, who had been under arrest, were released following a detention review.
At the trial held at the Istanbul 40th High Criminal Court, the decision to release the two drivers was made after a review conducted via SEGBİS. Release decisions were also issued for many other defendants in the same case holding different roles.
Release Decisions During the Hearing
As part of the İBB investigation, the court panel ruled for the release of defendants serving in various positions. Those released included municipal employees, company staff, and drivers.
Since the first hearing of the case, the defenses of 35 defendants have been heard. It was stated that the trial continues four days a week and hearings may extend into late hours.
Tension in the Courtroom
During the hearing, a brief dispute occurred between defense attorney Mehmet Pehlivan and the court panel. The argument began following an intervention during the defense and escalated into tension with the involvement of other lawyers in the courtroom.
Meanwhile, it was reported that verbal disputes also took place in the courtroom during a defendant’s statement.
Judicial Process
In the case conducted under the İBB investigation, the process of hearing defendants’ defenses is ongoing. The court adjourned the hearing to a later date.
