Strait of Hormuz Crisis Deepens: Iranian Ships Issue Threats

Tensions are rising in the Strait of Hormuz. Iran has issued a strong warning against the US plan for ship transit. Energy security in the region is at risk.

Rising tensions in the Strait of Hormuz are triggering a new wave of crisis for global energy security. Iran has announced that any vessels passing through the Strait of Hormuz without military coordination will be targeted.

Strong Warning from Iran: “Unauthorized Transit Will Be Intervened”

Officials from the Iranian Revolutionary Guard stated that commercial ships wishing to pass through the strait must comply with designated protocols. The statement emphasized that vessels not adhering to the rules would be “stopped by force.”

This statement is seen as a direct response to US President Donald Trump’s announced “Project Freedom” plan, which aims to ensure safe passage for commercial vessels.

US Ship Escort Plan

The US military announced that it has established a new security corridor to guide commercial ships stranded in the region. Officials reported that heavy traffic is expected and vessels must coordinate with Omani authorities.

It was stated that warships, air assets, and thousands of troops will be involved in the plan. The goal is to resume transit through the Strait of Hormuz.

Drone Attack on UAE Tanker

The United Arab Emirates announced that a tanker belonging to its state energy company was targeted by two drones while passing through the strait. No casualties were reported, but the attack was described as a “terrorist act.”

It remains unclear whether the vessel was operating under the US’s new security plan at the time of the attack.

US-Iran Tensions and Diplomatic Activity

Iran announced that it had presented a 14-point plan to end the conflict and had received a response from the US. However, the Trump administration stated that the proposal was insufficient and was not inclined to accept it.

Meanwhile, Pakistan facilitated the transfer of crew members from an Iranian vessel seized by the US, enabling limited diplomatic contact between the two countries.

Global Impact: Energy and Trade at Risk

The Strait of Hormuz, through which approximately one-fifth of the world’s oil passes, has been at risk for months due to ongoing tensions. The instability in the region is causing fluctuations in energy prices and increasing global inflationary pressure.

According to experts, failure to ensure security in the strait could directly impact energy-import-dependent countries, particularly in Europe and Asia.
