Auto browse enables the Gemini AI to understand the content within open browser tabs and take actions accordingly. With this feature, users can automate web-based tasks such as travel booking, data entry, and meeting scheduling.

The system supports operations such as transferring content from Google Docs to CRM systems, comparing prices across different tabs, summarizing candidate portfolios, and extracting data from competitor product pages.

Human Control Remains

Google emphasizes that the system is not fully autonomous. User approval is required for all actions. This approach aims to prevent incorrect operations.

The company states that this technology will save time and allow employees to focus on more strategic tasks. However, current research suggests that AI may increase workload rather than reduce it.

Enterprise Usage and Access Details

The new feature will initially be available to Workspace users in the United States. Organizations will be able to enable this feature through policy settings.

Users will be able to save frequently used actions as “Skills”. These actions can be quickly accessed by typing a slash (/) or using the plus icon.

New Security Features and Shadow IT Monitoring

Google also announced new security features under Chrome Enterprise Premium that can detect unauthorized AI tools. The system identifies risks by analyzing “anomalous agent activities.”

This feature, called “Shadow IT risk detection,” makes both authorized and unauthorized AI and SaaS usage within organizations visible. This enables IT teams to maintain more effective control.

Gemini-Powered Management Tools

IT teams will receive “Gemini Summary” briefings for Chrome updates. These summaries will provide information about critical changes, new policies, and features to be deprecated.

The system will also offer recommendations for configuring new settings and managing the browser.

Security Partnerships Expand

Google announced that it has expanded its partnership with Okta. As part of this, additional protections will be provided against threats such as session hijacking.

In addition, security controls for browser extensions have been strengthened, and with Microsoft Information Protection integration, data security policies are applied more consistently.
